Feel like I found the limit of cursor for me pretty quickly after messing around with it for a day or two.

Feel like its good for prototyping new things, but it was a net negative when adding features to an existing codebase.

It was introducing bugs, ruining formatting, and more... #buildinpublic

Whipped together a quick tool that monitors all my servers and projects, saved me a couple hours for sure! #buildinpublic

Currently running on my home server setup. Would be very easy to spin up a VPS for it though.

To separate I created a basic express js server and copied just the logic I needed for syncing the data I wanted. From their was easy to use node-cron and have it run in the background

I decided to split a chunk of my app away from the main repo. BluePilot runs on vercel, which is great, but I do a ton of data syncing. Millions of records a day

The infra. (and pricing) wasn't really meant for that, so the heavy-duty syncing has split away! #buildinpublic

Working on lots of cool updates for Bluepilot that I'm excited about.

Nice to work on new features and not just performance or bug fixing

Had lots of little tasks to do today that I was expecting to take quite a while.

Did them all in two hours which has now freed up a lot of time I wasn't expecting to have!

Checked out WXT for building browser extensions, a suggestion from @enaut.bsky.social

So far very happy with it! Saved me a bunch of time and allows me to keep similar workflows that I use for other projects. Would recommend. #buildinpublic

Have some big ideas planned for local leads that will make it even more useful.

Want to do another run through of some of the players in the lead gen/finding market first. Big ones like Apollo and Lusha, but curious if there are some recommendations to check out?

Back to working on new features for my products! both localleads and bluepilot are going to see some big upgrades in the coming days and weeks 🦙

I can't imagine having a major portion of my business be custom software and not having anyone technical directly on the team.

It amazes me how many people I've come across that successfully operate this way, kudos to them, it would stress me way over the top.

Anyone working on something interesting?

Hoping to get a client project to the finish line this week...

been dragging on and its in the insurance world so its maximally uninteresting 😴

Would want someone full time.

Someone to take over some of my smaller client projects as well as contribute to the new stuff I'm building.

We are now in an awkward spot again where I need another engineer/developer on the team but want to increase revenue a bit first.

Job hunting is so stressful that @platypuz.bsky.social and I always feel best when we have a cash/rev buffer to try and never have to downsize or disrupt peoples lives

Working with a few biz owners around scalable processes has really outlined why @kyleplatt.bsky.social and I's approach has been so successful. Creating just the right amount of process before, during, and after team growth. Something to be said for including employees in process enhancement!

The switch to using sanity for a headless cms was pretty seamless. So far the free plan has even been good enough for my use case which is nice!

Going to switch over local-leads.ai to use it too.

I 100% agree with you. Short answer is I hand checked every single number. It still helps because you can keep a ~dozen numbers in your head in order and check against the other data instead of copying one by one

The main time save was formatting as there was 20+ uniquely defined sources

Already have a busy day today so I am happy to say it was fairly quiet, except for a dreaded performance bug on my largest tool 😨

I didnt end up having time to test all the headless cms that were suggested to me but I have successfully made the switch from payload to Sanity for getbluepilot.com blog

So far so good! Will see how it behaves over the next few weeks and how my non-technical team members like it

I had Storyblock, Contentful and Strapi to investigate, will add the others! Im definitely on the would rather not manage it myself train for this

Considering switching away from PayloadCMS for a few projects.

I really like it conceptually but I need something that requires very little to no effort to manage so that I can focus on the actual product.

Going to test out Sanity next I think. Any other suggestions?

Building a project that has big rate tables from several different providers, formatted in tons of different ways.

Just throw it into AI and tell it to format into my json structure, works amazingly. Probably saved me 10+ hours
