The Minnesota government was shut down when I turned 16, so they weren't doing tests.
Couple weeks later when it reopened, they had a backlog and were just cranking through them. I spent no more than 5 minutes with the instructor. Just a loop around the parking lot and parallel park and done 👍

Yeah I have no idea how common enhanced IDs are - if it would even be worth it for them. Either not enough, or too many.
But when I took their picture, I was the only vehicle next to them at a stoplight. If they had a scanner running, I would have likely been the only one that showed up.
In theory it's so they can be read from a distance at border crossings while you're in your car.
The chip just has an ID number, no actual info - then they match the ID to what's in DHS databases... which ICE certainly has access to.
No idea if they have readers here though. Just a possibility
MN DVS spreadsheet results for searches on my license plate. A short table with columns for License Plate, and Search Date. My plate has "no searches" - data from Jan 01 - Feb 02 2026
The feds led me to my house a few weeks ago. MN DVS says there were no searches on my license plate.
So probably private ad or Flock data...
But does anyone else that received a home visit have an Enhanced ID? Apparently those can be read from ~30 feet, so that could also be an option

They got back to me today, and mine also shows zero searches from Jan 1 - Feb 2. Feds went to my house on 01/12. 🤷♂️
