The lil' Yarfer

Sooo.. lorem ipsum is actually an oddly good way to practice a myriad of various.. well, filler words.

But I appreciate too that I've now stopped using the 'guide', and more or less have some idea on writing this font somewhat consistent.

So why not have a bit of fun?

Much more practice text. I'm really happy with discovering the slant of the W and V, though find myself struggling still with either straight down stroke capitals (P, F, B, D, R, K?).

Yet another set of lines done up.

I did try writing in my journal with the Chancery Italic Hand font and found that it's a bit too slow for me.

So I think maybe the Chancery Italic hand font is just for more calligraphical purposes.

Been practising more with the 2.0 italic nib, and.. boy is it a learning curve!

Using the recent writing I did to construct a sentence using this font. It's definitely a new learning curve to try and make things consistent!

Finished up a page, and going for yet another one!

More practice on the font, and just throwing more random words to the canvas!

More practice of this font, but trying to see if I can understand linking and make words. It really helps having a grid paper to help align and space things more neatly!

(And yes I did misspell some words used, was so focused on getting the look right that my spelling went out the window 🤣)

The good thing about this hobby is the exploration of various pens and inks. I'm glad I had gotten this ink journal from PenGallery in KL last December, so I can have a visual memory of an ink I had used!

Tried my hand at a new font; I'm not fantastic at it but it's got some qualities I'm pretty intrigued about!

Some bits of food diary; went to Kickin' Inn and had a sort of seafood spread for Christmas eve, and then made Bak Kut Teh (pork bone broth) for Christmas. Admittedly the latter was as simple as getting pork ribs and popping a spice blend with garlic cloves but... Great result!

Anyways.. there's that bit of infodump about where I am now. It's a little more for me, I suppose.

Even if I can write it out, I guess i am hoping for some sort of acknowledgement of my journey, my life, and the ins and outs of my experiences?

So.. it's complicated, I suppose. At the end of the day I'm still me, still the same Kai. Though, my party days (if I could even call it that) are certainly over.

I don't have the energy or capacity to bear the sensory issues I face especially with sound and crowds, so.. preserving what I got?

Would this mean I might consider undergoing bottom surgery? Maybe. It's not really like a huge impetus since I don't necessarily feel like I have gender dysphoria.

But I still do feel somewhat like my body doesn't fully reflect my gender identity, hence bring on estrogen?

It has always been this rather interesting blend where I don't feel fully male, or fully female. Not with the current social standards. So.. I just don't feel comfortable necessarily being tied to a specific gender, I suppose.

Just a small bit of an update, though.. just for me to have the space. But essentially, I've pretty much reached my first year of being on estrogen.

Though.. I still am gonna consider myself Non-Binary, and not really female or male. I think that's always been the crux of my identity.

This is a very hot comic, but it's also hard to ignore the JoJo reference in the last panel!

Yesterday (4/20) marked the day I arrived in Canada 8 years ago, to start my new life. So I made a comic about it. Please enjoy~ 1/2 🧵

Have played with a Kinnan deck before, that one's a tizzy. I love the shenanigans Adrix and Niv can come up with especially when it's "tokens", not "creature tokens" or anything specific.. like I was just made aware of a deck tech using many new cards from Dragonstorm to make enchantment tokens.

I take the path I take not because of my desire for conflict, but because I truly am an idealistic being who really just wants humanity to thrive and be better.

These are high expectations, but.. is that not why we constantly strive in our lives and work; to be better than our past.

I will still try to seek out, find, or maybe hopefully find strength to start things again.. but please..

At least allow me the space, the respite to feel tired, dejected, deflated, disappointed, and do not dismiss my pain, suffering and/or experiences.

So.. I do not necessarily understand or see many ways forward, except with what I already have and know. And without more perspective or even discussion about things, and with heightened intolerance, I don't find many safe spaces to even begin to find such insights.

Not because I want to hate, but I have continually observed, and found difficulty trying to find a place for who I am as a person.

Part of this is certainly self inflicted, and I acknowledge I need to do more. However, it's incredibly tiring and disheartening to try.

It's just.. incredibly disappointing to hear of people tote about the "accepting" and "open" nature of a community, one also faced with discrimination, yet in the same breath also dismiss and stereotype other minority that exists within said community.

And I repeat this often.
