And then the eventual wearing down. The acceptance. He’s had it put in so many times. Vox has never given in until he was successful. Alastor had never won no matter how much he resisted. What was the point? Eventually he just opens his mouth and takes it when it’s offered.

And then the contrast of how soft Al is getting it taken out. The relief, shadowed by the fear that it was probably going back in eventually. Maybe he should behave? Maybe it would be longer without it if he behaved?

Okay I’ve been thinking about this since I saw it. Imagine how much Al must have fought that thing going in. Thrashing his head around, clenching his teeth. Vox would have had to put him in a chokehold to have any chance, and even then he would have had a hard time.
