I did my own research and it turns out vaccines are awesome.

I realize broad science-literacy problems cannot generally be solved just by shoving more facts at people but I really wish more people understood that the entire purpose and mechanism of a vaccine is to educate your OWN immune system, making it about the most "natural" medical intervention possible

Romance and AI Survey Survey of romance authors' and readers' attitudes toward generative AI

I know lots of you have strong opinions on this topic, so I hope this will be of interest:

"You are being asked to participate in a survey of romance authors and readers that is being conducted by Prof. Bridget Kies in the Film Studies and Production program at Oakland University."

Patient seeking care at NIH hospital detained by ICE NIH officials called immigration authorities after scrutinizing the patient’s identification presented to security at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center.

This is absolutely devastating - the NIH hospital called ICE about a patient on a patient seeking care.

Sadly, this is, yet, one of countless examples of health care settings being extensions of the carceral state.

As health care workers, it our duty to do no harm, to protect our patients.

The check-in guy asked me about what I wrote in the form - I said the front drivers and passengers side have been making the Failing Bearing noise. He asked me to describe the noise so I emulated it. he looked at me like I was nuts 😆

It sounds like the car version of “eeeehhhhhnn” whenever I turn

Everybody wish my poor, abused car a Happy Good Time At The Mechanic Shop! 😅

The estimate they gave me in person is like $200 less than the initial online one so fingers crossed it won’t be as bad as I think.

Patients suspect - I have little doubt they are right - that delay of care is strongly associated with presentation outside of the "textbook" definition for this condition, which hasn't been updated in years. Patients HAVE THAT INSIGHT, and it's nowhere in these studies that are only about feelings

Literally all they do is gather online. Then they go so insane from terminal online brainrot no one wants to be around them in real life so they gather online some more. It’s all they’re good at.

Oh yeah! I’m used to camping in bear country, so everything was all packed up in a couple airtight bear bags hung in a tree. It’s just that the raccoons shredded it and ate everything. :(

we had a solution

we didn’t have to do this

2. Emotionally Limited Parents
Misread Neurodivergence as
Defiance

Neurocomplex traits often get pathologized in emotionally rigid households. Curiosity becomes backtalk. Sensory sensitivity is framed as overreacting. Executive dysfunction gets labeled as laziness.
These misinterpretations aren't just invalidating— they're identity-shaping. Over time, kids absorb the belief that being different equals being difficult.

School vouchers are a scam to send taxpayer money to private religious schools. Vouchers are also a violation of church and state.

Okay Internet friends: please help me!

Next week is a big annual camping trip with friends. Last year, the raccoons broke 1 cooler, shredded my bear bag, and managed to get inside all of the other food-storage containers. What can we do to slow them down or stop them?

The tweet reads, "People with ADHD doing literally anything other than the thing they should be doing: In 2020 two men turned Earth into a 'sandwich' by placing bread on precise points of the planet." Below the text, there are two photos side by side. The left photo shows a person squatting on a beach in New Zealand, with coordinates "36.86377, 174.90031" displayed above. The person is wearing a black hoodie, shorts, and sunglasses, and is holding a piece of bread. The right photo shows another person standing in Spain, with coordinates "36.86377, 5.09969" above. This person is wearing a scarf and glasses. Both photos have a humorous caption suggesting that the individuals placed bread on these specific locations to create a "sandwich" effect on Earth.

Time to retell the story of my dad's friend, Dead John.

Dead John was a nam vet with MS who got the name because for some reason everyone was convinced he was dead. Flowers were sent to his mother. He was not dead, but the name stuck to distinguish him from other Johns
