U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

What possible rationale is intended to justify these actions?
Trump’s legacy will be the wholesale forfeiture of every moral principle our nation has strived to protect and emulate since it’s inception.

Tuula Lehtinen studied in The Finnish Academy of Fine Arts 1976-1980, and has since then been an active player in the Finnish art scene. For her the development of the printmaking field has been particularly interesting and the renewal of valuable tradition and craftsmanship have played a central role in her work. She is attracted to the old traditional techniques, but wants to bring them in a fresh way into today’s art making.

The artist, who loves hand- making and decoration, mosaic has proved to be an excellent tool for artistic expression. In recent years, Lehtinen has made a number of impressive mosaic works and bringing art into the architecture has become increasingly important issue in her work.

the ginko forest sprites alight on gentle breezes, gliding one by one to earth below,
Knitting together a patchwork quilt of exquisite gold,

Painted in 1887 and signed A. Andersen-Lundby München, this work reflects the artist’s lifelong fascination with the stillness and clarity of the Nordic and Alpine landscape in winter. Anders Andersen-Lundby specialized in snow scenes and atmospheric depictions of the cold season, a focus that earned him considerable recognition in both Denmark and Germany during the late nineteenth century. His relocation from Copenhagen to Munich in 1876 placed him within one of Europe’s leading centers of naturalist painting, where he continued to refine his luminous handling of reflected light and his serene, panoramic compositions.

The painting, titled Wintertag am See in German, presents a tranquil lakeside setting enveloped in frost and silence, with subtle human activity lending warmth to an otherwise wintry expanse. Through his mastery of tonal gradation and his delicate rendering of atmosphere, Andersen-Lundby achieved a poetic balance between human presence and nature’s grandeur.

Privately, the artist led a stable family life in Munich, where he remained until his death in 1923. Though less radical than many contemporaries, his art exemplified a quiet lyricism deeply admired by collectors of the period.

this idyllic evocation of childhood depicts Carl Larsson’s seven year old son in the Larssons' family home in Stora Glasbruksgatan, Stockholm, at Christmas time. Standing in his nightgown with a gingerbread man in his hand, he wears a casque on his head to add to the festive mood. Behind Ulf, the table is draped with a cloth designed and embroidered by Karin Larsson for her husband, with the letters CARL spelled out. To the left of the candlesticks is a silver cup which was gifted to Ulf by his grandmother and engraved with both his name and the date. Charming in its spontaneity, the work was unrecorded until 1999. Carl Larsson's son, Ulf, died in 1905. He passed away on April 14th during an operation.

In loving memory of Ulf.
