Literally, my 4 year old phone that has had one HARD life shows less wear and scratching than my brand new phone that I've been treating like it might scratch or break at any time. I'm NOT happy.

The one thing I regret doing this year is buying a new phone. It's an S25 FE. I've had it just over a month now. I've been treating it like gold. The top of the screen is already scratched up from heavens-know-what, the charge is kinda sad, and the phone can do nothing I couldn't do on my S21 FE.

All of this for a machine that cannot do what it's advertised to do as it either A) provides answers that it does not understand to questions it does not understand where the in/correctness of the answer is purely coincidental or B) just produces bland, uninspiring slop.

Honestly, I don't think my problem with a lot of AI is that it's bad for the environment, bad for people, and bad for the future... it's that it wouldn't be worth the effort even if it were none of these things.

Just so we are 100% clear: ChatGPT is not a source.

I'd say it's on par with saying your source is "Google", but really it's "My source is a guy whose nickname is 'Sir Lies-a-lot'."

The solution to this problem? We need to slow way down on how much we are taking this stuff from the ground and putting it in the air.

The problem isn't that we have no good ways to take the CO2 out of the air. We have plenty of them. The problem is we can't do it as fast as we're mining carbon from underground and burning it to make CO2.

Not going to lie, but Veloren is honestly one of the prettiest, most atmospheric games I've played in a while... And it's literally a world made of blocks.

(It's clear that they're very reasonably upset at the whole business, so this is just an angry reaction at a traumatic situation, not any sort of well-reasoned opinion piece about their true thoughts on the topic. If anything, they were taking everything rather well.)

(Context: They just read a negative review of a really excellent video game written by somebody who seems to not have grasped that a character was saying things they obviously didn't mean because they'd literally been cursed to extoll the virtues of said thing against their will.)

Mission Successful

Today is Friday. I woke up this morning sad that it was Thursday and not knowing whether I was going to make it all the way to Friday without some sort of a mental break moment Rimworld style.

Mental break moment has been postponed for now.

Honestly, this might as well be a lot of modern conspiracy theories in a nutshell. Or the "basic biologists" who keep insisting that things have to be the way they learnt them in high school, despite the fact that they went to high school in something like the mid-80's.

There is a strict "return" policy on sharks. Which may be what the whales I saw on the first night I was here were eating. Shark-eating whales are very real. They may even cause sharks to leave an area. There are some studies to that effect, at least.
