I never teach my students to think of themselves as victims, and don’t know anyone who does. Someone probably does somewhere, but prevailing culture it is not.

But what really stands out is hearing this from a political movement whose incessant overriding message to supporters is “you’re a victim.”

Whether you call it an internet culture desk, a social media desk, a digital investigations desk, etc, today’s newsrooms lacking them operate as their own peril and risk obsolescence in the modern reporting environment, no longer informing the public with the necessary expertise.
