I think its because there is a decent chunk of the KDrama fanbase watching purely because of the MLs, which is understandable, but it definitely shapes how marketing and drama casting affects potential FLs.

There’s a couple of people I know IRL who would drop a show based on the ML’s looks 🤷‍♂️

Josh Gad is the voice actor behind Olaf so it was really jarring seeing Olaf sing like that 😭

There's a new Marvel TV series called Wonder Man and Josh Gad has a small role in it as himself who literally sings Olaf's songs from Frozen but with a darker tone 😂

Olaf and the rest of the Disney films being made canon within the MCU 😭 also the Doorman clause....

Interesting series, it actually feels like a series and not like a movie in 6 parts!

So, simpler ratings are good, revisionism is bad but giving dramas a better score than they're worth is also not right.

That being said, looks like I'll be re-re-rating the 2021 dramas to try and find a more accurate middle ground that considers the O.G rating, maybe bringing it back to second?

In the new rating system, it's a lot simpler but I also scaled everything downwards. I was more unafraid to give a bad drama rating, yet somehow the ratings average at 7 and not lower. The order does change!

2020: 7.13 - 5th
2021: 7.65 - 4th
2022: 7.91 - 2nd
2023: 7.74 - 3rd
2024: 8.14 - 1st

In the O.G ratings, my worst year on average for dramas was 2020 at 8.26, which is weird since that is when I started. In this system, the lowest a drama got was a 6.

2020: 8.26 - 5th
2021: 8.86 - 2nd
2022: 8.68 - 3rd
2023: 8.57 - 4th
2024: 9.11 - 1st

I decided to download my #KDrama, #CDrama ratings from Notion to see what I could discover. What makes this extra interesting is that in 2025 I started a simpler rating system of 1-10 (integers only) rather than 8, 8.25, 8.5 etc. I've kept both, but new dramas only have the re-rating.
