I get it. That’s the point of @leavingmaga.bsky.social , though. They’re doing the work and helping people do the work.

These are people who are *leaving* the group that supports Nazism. They’re acknowledging that it was a mistake.

The Trump campaign has used powerful propaganda to suck in a lot of people, manipulating them, using their insecurities against them. These are those people, realizing that.

Watch some of the videos. These people say exactly what they believed and why, including owning up to their own racism and bigotry.

We want people to learn, grow, and change, right? This is what we need.

Agreed, but to get the attention of more people, this framing also helps.

Drone strikes without evidence should alarm every single one of us. Transparency and accountability aren’t optional when human lives are at stake.

Do you mean where @leavingmaga.bsky.social said people have trouble leaving because of “fear of censure,” and you’re saying that’s “virtue signaling” because they’re not fearless?

It’s a process. This group is about helping people get out of a cult. We can’t expect them to pop out magically.

I’m angry at what they did, too. It took me a long time to begin to listen to anything they have to say (the ones who apologize).

But we need to fix things, which means turning them around. So if they’re on the right path, I think it’s valuable to help them stay on it.

That’s exactly what this is about: sincere remorse and apologies. They’re doing exactly what you’re asking them to do.

The group is about giving them support, since in leaving, they lose their former support network. The support comes from other former MAGA. But we can support the organization.

They’re being vocal in this group (@leavingmaga.bsky.social).

They’re acknowledging they deserve the sacrifice and pain.

We want them to leave and do better. That’s what this is about. It’s also about helping them get there. And we NEED them to do that.

In Chicago, ICE tried to seize a Latino man—but his Black neighbors refused to let it happen. They stepped in, stood tall, and claimed him as their own.

Certainly, but I don’t think they’re asking for that. @leavingmaga.bsky.social is about helping regretful ex-MAGA supporters find their way out of the cult. This is something we want.

Those of us who can and are willingly should at the very least not push them back in.
