I have no idea if you'd actually like it, but Dhalgren by Samuel Delany is about 800 pages of that. They certainly don't publish books like it anymore, and while it's definitely not for everyone, I really loved it.

I used to work with dichloromethane in a lab setting and that stuff is SCARY. We would double glove and set timers for glove changes. Dimethylformamide was the other solvent we used and was just as nasty.
