It makes a big difference when people know what to expect and have practitioners who are experienced.

I had an EMG today and while my experience was okay I know that nobody should have anything done to their body that isn’t fully explained. I might find it annoying to describe in my own words what a colposcopy is before they do it. But that’s how you know what people understand about a procedure.

And the solution is so fucking easy. Just nominate/promote candidates that are ready/willing/able to protect trans rights. There are lots of options. Don’t sell out people and then get mad they don’t want to vote to protect you from under the bus.

If I get referred to PT I’ll have to pay out of pocket I have gotten PT for three issues this year and my insurance only pays for 20 total visits.

That’s what the doctor today thinks it might be but I was referred to him so he’s letting my referring doctor (who I never actually met just his PA) order the next tests. He said if he didn’t order them to come back. So I get the impression he’s not impressed by the referring doc.

Not really. Rules out carpal/cubital tunnel or other nerve impingement. So more tests with potential diagnoses that aren’t as easily treated.

I had a nerve study done on both arms today. While I wouldn’t call it the best medical procedure I’ve ever had compared to some gynecological stuff I’ve had done it wasn’t too bad. At least they didn’t downplay that it wouldn’t feel great.

The federal government is putting them in an impossible situation. They are asking them to go against the medical consensus of appropriate care for trans kids and let them die in order to treat other kids. Where’s the line? Who loses care next?

I waiting for Bob Ferguson to get on board with this idea in Washington. He was very happy to sue the first Trump administration.

Which is funny because he was president during the last one. There were attempts then to add quesitons about citizenship but it didn't happen. It was actually a big disaster because of the incompetence of his administration and it was during COVID.

If you fill out your form yourself you can choose how much informationt to share. Enumerators are trained to ask neighbors if people refuse and they might say more. Submitting information to the census is a responsibility of everyone who lives here because it is important for making many decisions.

Hmmm, we should ask him which administration conducted the last census that he hates.

Replace the trans community with literally any other marginalized group and see how it feels to tell them they have to disregard harm and vote for people who see them only as a political pawn and not real people making up a vibrant community. Harm can be done by either side of the aisle.

These conversations are happening well in advance. Certainly with enough time to educate yourselves about how not to further alienate a demographic that you pretend like you care about. You don't have to understand what it is like to be trans if you listen when people say this person is bad for us.

They aren't entitled to votes from a community that they are actively hurting. And if the centrists want to fight fascism rather than asking a marginalized community to disregard how they are treated they should be finding and voting for candidates that aren't actively hurting people. That's it.

In the discourse about potential candidates that have said things that are deal breakers for the trans community (Buttigieg, Newsom) the centrists are yelling that not voting for them is a vote for fascism. Like their stated positions are not discriminatory and transphobic.

My son's partner is doing an internship as a naturalist in the tide pools. They really come alive talking about and teaching people about the wildlife there.

Stop asking marginalized groups to get behind candidates that harm them to save yourselves from the groups that harm everyone. There's an easy solution. Nominate candidates that don't harm the trans community and trans people will vote for them.

The other thing we need is ranked choice voting. The NY mayoral primary shows how that gets a different kind of candidate. Unfortunately, I don't think the DNC really wants that.

The most infuriating part for me is that we are saying these things now, well in advance of any election. If the rest of the party is serious about saving democracy they will figure it out. These guys won't become the nominee if people don't vote for them. We need solidarity with trans folk.

I started watching Patience on PBS. It’s a British version of the show Astrid which I adore. It feels both familiar and strange.

Dear insurance companies,
Limiting me to 20 PT/OT/ST visits in a year is terrible. I'm in my 50s and the check engine light keeps coming on. I'm on my third body part for PT this year with only 6 visits left and slightly less than half of a year left. Nevermind that the last issue isn't resolved.

I think you are probably right. Ranked Choice Voting makes so much sense for a primary especially.
