New national law will turn large parking lots into solar power farms Starting this month, parking lots in South Korea with more than 80 spaces will be required to install solar canopies and carports.

Dear Canada, can someone explain why we are not doing this??

It's two months until Christmas day and some boneless jerk had their Christmas lights on last night. Put Christmas back in December and don't dare try to sell me a poppy till November!
Am I alone in this?

Shooting Times uses selective quote to shamelessly misrepresent my view on predator culls A couple of weeks ago, on 24 September, the Shooting Times published a news item in which it was suggested that I support predator culls: The Shooting Times article was supposedly a prΓ©cis of an ar…

Another cracking blog from Nick MacKinnon on craziness of windfarm plans on Walshaw Moor.

Guest blog; markavery.info/2025/09/20/g...

Nick & Ali don't put a foot wrong - unlike the developers who plan to put roads in impossible terrain. Our guest blogger is dogged in his dissection of the issues.

Kerton Pit, near Lydd-on-sea has been gathering waders on the high tides lately. One of the Bar-tailed Godwits on the 1st May was colour ringed - it was ringed in November 2022 in Mauritania, over 3700km away! Giving us an idea of where some of the 10k birds past this spring are coming from.

Passage from Carl Sagan’s 1995 book, the demon haunted world. The passage states β€œ not explaining science seems to me perverse. When you’re in love, you want to tell the world. This book is a personal statement, reflecting, my lifelong love affair with science. but there’s another reason: Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a four boating of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time - when the United States is a service or information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those and authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good, and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media. The 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially, a kind of celebration of ignorance.

A program for those of hearing disability it was loved and derided by idiots of my age but had an section called the gallery hosted by artist Tony Hart which showed viewers paintings which I loved. He weaved Morph into the narrative of the show and was brilliant. Never to be forgotten.

Love your sense of humour. Just to add detail Morph was a key part of a TV program in my childhood in the 60's called Vision On.
