It's so frustrating to see yet another new record: 17,112 people, including 11,793 adults and 5,319 children accessed emergency accommodation in January, while there are over 160,000 empty houses and 20,000 derelict houses in Ireland.😡

Successive governments have done everything possible to normalise homelessness but it should never be normal to have people on the streets while perfect homes lay empty everywhere

Thats a lot of people struggling due to bad policy decisions
Frightening to think what its now given there were 'only' 12,000 in emergency accommodation in May 2023, now its over 17,000

Why does the council take so long to renovate homes when so many are in need of a home
And why do they make our streets feel like prisons with these horrible hoardings

Why are there so many run down buildings? So many derelicts? So few public amenities? Why so little social housing? So little public transport? Why are so many buildings empty?

We need progressive solutions like #DerelictIreland suggest. No. 1 Maintain existing buildings.
