Just heard on the radio that research at an Australian university has discovered that one's mind is most capable at around age 60. And just as I am dithering whether to throw myself at trying to get funding for a PhD! Value your age - it turns out you could be sharper than you've ever been before.

Thanks, that's useful to know, especially as we quite often turn our fruit crops into jam, or occasionally chutney.

Yes, that's happened with our apples, too. I had to do some emergency pruning earlier in the summer so we could walk up the garden.

Oh wow, that's fantastic. As ours are fallers, they're somewhat damaged, but will think about that if/when we get round to picking the rest (which may need a better ladder, too).

Wow, it's quite the apple crop this year, plus a few small pears. This is just what fell from the trees while we were away for a few days.
