In London on Wedesday, I went to 5 Waterstones, including the flagship store, and I only brought one book. I also went to two Lego stores, including the flagship one, and I only spent Β£9.99 on a red panda for my daughter.

Am I getting old?

Gosh, started doom scrolling two hours ago, can't seem to stop.

Palmer and Atkins need help. Send motivation so I can write them, please.

Went to #TheRoebuck tonight. Lovely pub, we go there whenever we come to Richmond, but nearly had a heart attack at the round. A pint and a medium glass of wine Β£15.10!

Bigger surprise was that the wine was from Kent and it was absolutely lovely. Chapel Down I believe. Recommend pub and wine.

Have just spent the last hour and a half crying over the ending of "Crooked Kingdom" by Leigh Bardugo. That was breathtaking. Hats off to you Ms Bardugo, you did your job so well.

Journey of Disaster A David Sands Competition story by GB Williams

I just got my first sci-fi story published! Something of a deviation for me, it's sci-fi and kind of comedy. If you'd like to see what weirdness I can come up with in space, do check it out.

Totally! The em-dash is a dramatic pause, for dramatic reasons. I write dramatic books, ergo I use em-dashes.

Also, where did AI learn to use the em-dash? Oh that would be from all the writers using in it in all the literary works that the AI trainers STOLE from authors.

This book was first published before I was born and for because I was told my writing style was like hers, I never read it. Now I'm reading it and I wish I'd read it years ago, I'm loving it.

One white plimsoll where the heel has come away from the sole completely

Had a fabulous time in Warwick Castle yesterday, but my plimsoll apparently wasn't so happy. I need new shoes.

After nearly melting in the heat so I couldn't concentrate, came outside and sat in evening shade from 8pm, managed to write 4381 words.

A good day.

It's half ten and so far I've written 2371 words, read 30 pages and had a bath. Cat got me up at 04:30 this morning. Time to do some editing, book two of Atkins and Palmer.

Today I am experiencing that stupid feminine dichotomy of caring vs. working. I was caring for my daughter so I shouldn't feel guilty that I got no work done. But I do. Mind I'd feel way worse if I'd worked and not been there for her.

Wow! Just finished "When the Moon Hatched" by Sarah A Parker. Wonderful book and I'm looking forward to the next installment. Also wanted to show the bookmark and thank TE Kinsey for the gift - love it and it works so well with a hardback.

Fabulous day in the campervan. Fresh air, bike ride, read a book, listened to one, and write 2157 words. Am having a great time.

Today's view the writing shed otherwise known as the campervan. It's a lovely day in Pembrey and the bacon is smelling good for brunch.

Beautiful day outside. So I thought why not take a book out, sit in the sun and enjoy it. Why not? Getting sun burn in 15 mins that's why not. Shoulder hurts now. πŸ˜•

So this is me hiding the shadows, enjoying my book. Totally understanding how Raeve feels in the rain.

Today's conversation that say too much.

Context: brought Β£23 books, Β£85 clothes

Me: I feel guilty about buying clothes
Hubby: No need
Kid: Oh yeah, it's so bad to replace worn out undies
Me: yeah... (Total Β£10 on undies)
Hubby: Notice you're not feeling guilty about the books
Me: Hell no!

It's National Crime Reading Month and I'm really looking forward to this event in Coleford Library 6pm on the 17th with the wonderful @alishawkinsauthor.bsky.social. So in you are in the vicinity, why don't you join us? It would be lovely to see some friendly faces on my first foray out in months.

Will be 6 weeks post op tomorrow, so time to start exercising again. I was just moving around the house, doing parts of the Susan Powter's Lean Stong and Healthy (remember that?). Couldn't do all of it, warm up, a little of the fat burn and all the cool down I needed. I will build my fitness level.

2 hours of market research, five loads of washing done, 15 mins of exercise (I'm working my way up to a fitness level) and 2,800 words written.

I need a nap now.
