He’s been interviewing and recording various folk, with accents, for his channel. Last week was my turn. I had a great time regaling him with many Northumbrian words and phrases and, hopefully correctly, explaining their roots
Old English/Old Norse. He now knows about Reivers, Romans and pitmatic 😀

My nephew has taught english as a second language in Korea and Thailand. He now makes a living from his Youtube channel, again, teaching english as a second language. What he found was, learners could understand ‘standard’ english but struggled with all of the many and varied dialects & accents 1/2

The GP had to formally refer me to him as an NHS patient which I had to explain to the surgery how to go about it after the initially referred me back to him, incorrectly, as a private patient ! The treatment once in the system was exemplary. Total time in hospital = 12 hrs

I felt really bad but the system is designed to keep kicking your case up the road. I was lucky in so much as I knew someone in the NHS who had this guy recommended to her by a colleague.All I was after was a diagnosis, never expecting to be taken on as an NHS patient. That was an unexpected bonus!

2). By which time I paid £200 for a private consultation after which the consultant took me on as a an NHS patient. Long story short, I have a fantastic new knee before I would’ve even had my initial consultation via my GP referral. My GP took the contact details for the consultant to pass on!

Exactly what they did to me - Doc referred me to the Northumberland NHS trust ‘JMAPS’ service for chronic knee pain. 1st X-ray next “you need physio”. Physio appt - phyiso looks at x-ray says “I’ll refer you to Orthopaedics” Appointment to see the consultant for the initial assessment took 8 months

There’s the problem - it takes years to fully reverse the damage of intensification but just a stroke of the politicians pen to send us back to square one and a return to the ‘silent spring’.
