Last day at UNCP is 8/15. 1st day at Bloomsbury is 8/25. I’ve tried desperately to personally tell the 100s in my orbit, but time hasn’t been on my side, which is ripping me up. UNCP will take great care of my past, present, future, & prospective authors. & I’m an email away (DM me for it). ❤️🙏 5/5

At @bloomsburyacad.bsky.social I’ll be an editorial director for one of their publishing groups. My team acquires text, professional, & trade books in education, criminology, museum studies/
practice of history (my list), parenting, health/wellness, self help, true crime, sports, & finance. 4/5

Ideally I’d be an ED at a university press while still acquiring in history, but that hasn’t happened yet. I’m 58, & time to decide if it’s best to stay in my beloved world or try something new. I’m unsure if I’m doing the right thing, but something new won out, and it happened really fast. 3/5

I love acquiring & editing history books, my authors, series eds, friends from history conferences, so much more that comes with the job. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this is my world, & I know I belong in it. The only thing that’s been missing is a chance to be an editorial director. 2/5

More details about job news: this was such a hard decision bc it was about staying where I am or going into the unknown. For 25+ yrs I’ve worked to be one of the best history editors in the @aupresses.bsky.social world. I finally got there and @uncpress.bsky.social had a ton to do with that. 1/5

This is why my decision was so, so hard: no. No more history except for museum studies and I think a little bit of public history. A different editorial group handles history. I am sick over the fact that it’s a hard stop, but the desire for greater responsibility is tugging at me.

I hate sharing the news this way. It’s impossible to individually reach so many who have reached out to *me* over the years, so watch this space for a more personal post, albeit w/in the confines of social media. @uncpress.bsky.social will take excellent care of past, current, & future projects. 🙏

Welp, as they say: I knew this news was going out over the @aupresses.bsky.social wires today but I thought I had more time to tell the hundreds (literally, 100s) of beloved authors and all who love history that I accepted a job as an editorial director at @bloomsburyacad.bsky.social very recently.

Warmest and well-deserved congratulations to @monijimenez.bsky.social's MAKING NEVER-NEVER LAND on winning the 2025 Gordon K. and Sybil Lewis book award from the Caribbean Studies Association! Congrats as well to the @latinxhistories.bsky.social series at @uncpress.bsky.social!

I am so happy to see you in full-blown social media character again. Please keep it going, not least bc since we can’t seem to ever get our acts together to hang at a conference this is the next best thing for me.
