Sometimes, "perfection" is the enemy of "done"--as they say. I wish I could I could go for a 5th or 6th revision or rewrite, esp. after I'm further along in the book. I always think of modifications I could've made to released chapters that'd improve the current scene. But that's writing a serial!

So I'd say for the harder scenes, at least 3 or 4 times rewriting it is normal for me. I cut, rearrange, sometimes re-draft. But usually time prohibits me from going too far or modifying too much. It's a serial, and I need to deliver chapters on time...

And then there's the scene I've been working on this week. I have a tough time with some subjects. So I've rewritten this one 3 or 4 times. Thought about a 5th rewrite, but the line count would explode, it'd get too long. I tinkered with it today.

For other scenes, ones that trouble me or are tougher or trickier, I leave them and I write out of order. Sometimes just giving myself time to think, taking a walk, weeding the garden, can help me find that line that'll pin the scene together...

It depends! Sometimes, I'm lucky enough to write a scene and have that "yes" feeling. It emerges right on the first draft, each word slotting into place like a key, and it just works, like a little machine. Other times... not so much.

Sometimes, some romantic scenes are so difficult that I just write my way in circles around them all around the episode until every last bit is done until I have only one bit left to write and it's that bit...

Nah, normally I grow my lettuces outside fine... I think the issue with some of the rarer lettuces I was trying was a.) climate, as I live in PNW and b.) the supplier, as I was buying from Baker Seeds... mixed germination rates, and I don't buy from them now cuz politics...

Google says it's a type of romaine--seems to come up for the heat resistant varieties? I've always been fascinated by older forms of lettuce, particularly oil seed lettuces... wanted to grow them, but no success!
