lol bitcoin wouldn’t be backed by gold since it’s backed by the energy it takes to mine it (just solve a math problem with a computer). they do want to establish a bitcoin reserve, but bitcoin is for everyone and they can’t control it — it was invented to be stronger than USD. Power to the people!

Bitcoin and gold both reflect global liquidity, which has increased drastically in the past decades since we went off the gold standard. Bitcoin’s volatility can be jarring but it’s honestly very useful! And gold’s stability is useful in a different, complementary way. Both excellent assets.

They’d do themselves a disservice if they tried to force bitcoin on the market. At most, they’d convert some of the upside that gold has had in comparison to the dollar into a bitcoin savings account. But they’d sooner “force” a centralized currency of their own than let people trade freely.

#flureport follow up, it’s day six and I am still snotty and occasionally grumpy and tired, but overall feeling about 80% health. I’ll take it!

Basically because it’s very liquid, tradable every second of every day for every person across the globe. It’s less of a hedge against CPI inflation and more a long term measurement of global monetary inflation. :)

All forms of money are also used for crime, correct. Is it better for humans to have a permissionless transaction, with no authority involved, or do you want all your transactions approved by your government, the ones who print the money?
