It was a dark day in our nation's history. We have faced other dark days since then — lately, it feels like we are living through dark times. But just as we did in the days after 9/11, we can choose to come together, to care for our neighbors, to defend our country, and to strengthen our democracy.

Today, we remember 9/11 and the people we lost. We remember the families who are still missing their loved ones, and we honor the first responders who met unimaginable danger and did their jobs with courage, grace, tenacity, and humility.
