Aha! TBH I am not much of a console jockey. I discovered the Unix shell in the 1980s & the novelty has long worn off by now.

Give me scalable antialiased fonts or give me... er... a monochrome screen, but I'm not going back to the terminal, TVM.

Some people are apparently claiming that Silicon Valley Tech Bros have consciousness, like normal humans.

As someone who studies these issues carefully, I can assure you that this is an utterly preposterous claim. Yes, they can mimic humans, but they are fundamentally incapable of original thought.

Yes, I've tried it. TBH I don't get the point.

ISTM the theory is that by keeping each Win app isolated, they don't interfere.

In practice, the way to get recalcitrant apps to work is to install real Windows dependencies, from ODBC to C/C++ runtimes etc. & you _want_ to share that stuff.

It's really weird watching friends of mine, some younger than me, turn into Old People.

But you are of course completely correct in all respects.

Last year I asked a mate in Brno for a pub recommendation near my hotel in Manchester.

"What kind?" he asked, reasonably.

"Am old man's pub."
