You might want to 'take a closer look' at the voting of the Australian people at the last election, overwhelming and almost unprecedented support for The ALP.

Respectfully, I think that is overly simplistic. Boomers benefitted from progressive policies and are quite left leaning. Much data shows the younger generations are much more conservative. Regardless, there was a wholesale rejection, across all generations of conservative politics.
