I think you’re right but they look so much like asters which also flower pretty late! The New England Aster is particularly pretty, and it looks kind of like this but with purple flowers!

Have you tried native asters? I’m sure your Cosmos look great and you should keep them, but asters will probably give them some good competition!

Yes, I love zinnias! They’re so cheerful and a butterfly and bumblebee magnet! I also plant marigolds near some of my natives because they’re a good companion plant, they help deter ticks and mosquitos, and they’re a hardy (I don’t water my plants much)!
