Still does. The romantic notion of villagers living in untouched nature is still pretty common.

True for both India and the Netherlands.

Yes. The "real Indian" living in villages is an old trope at this point.

Not the Gita, the entire Mahabharat. There will be a speaking and writing test, both of which will be subject to the original conditions of writing the epic.

That's not racism though, just paternalistic behaviour. Companies have been doing this and ignoring clear browser preferences since forever.

There's also a huge amount of work which has to be done by the same people, regardless of where you run. It's not the same work, but onprem vs cloud doesn't actually matter much once you have a team of people actually running machines.

if you're interested in pop culture that actually pushes back against the erosion of freedoms, you'll get more of it from one issue of an SFF zine than you will in a year of every streaming service combined

And mistakes have consequences, as this group of voters has repeatedly told women.

Carrot used the sword to kill Dr Cruces, with the side effect of proving that he is the actual heir to the kingdom.

Spam PACs Raise Money by Deceiving Seniors One 89-year-old woman made 7,532 donations totaling $68,666

The reason why fundraising text read like scams is because they are. The political fundraising system has imported the tactics of elder financial fraud. These tactics are designed to filter out skeptics and specifically target and exploit seniors.

95% of scam PAC donors are 65+, costing > $500m.

A lot of people don't have the privilege to post about tech, especially new technology *because* of politics.

I don't stress about buying more bookshelves though. I occasionally stress about having to move to a bigger apartment in the future.

To be fair, BIR cuisine is a derivative of Punjabi (the part of Punjab in Pakistan) food via Delhi. The restaurant business may be owned by Bangladeshi immigrants, but the food they serve is not Bengali.

Butter chicken was invented in India as a way of re-heating roasted chicken, so more "authentic", yes.

Dozens of Palestinians killed in latest Israeli attacks near food aid distribution site, medics and witnesses say Witnesses describe people shot in head and torso near sites run by Israeli-backed US organisation Gaza Humanitarian Foundation

There is no longer any doubt that Israel has set up a fake humanitarian organisation so it can kettle Gazans into a kill box and murder them en masse

It is evil beyond description and in a decent world it would result in immediate, massive, global action to stop them and prosecute those responsible

The samosa originates from Persia, from where it spread to India and at some point, had the meat and fruit filling replaced by potatoes.

If you started from the bad end of things, you will naturally dislike the things (if you want to make people hate drinking, make them drink beer from a can which has been in the summer sun for an afternoon).

I didn't realise vada pav could be bad until I had one in Delhi. If you only had that sort of vada pav, you are perfectly justified in hating it.

The lack of development of ovens, food hygiene requirements (which came before refrigeration) usually needing food to be freshly cooked and served warm, and bread being primarily a utensil rather than a food item of it's own.

A tandoor is a type of oven, but it derives from central Asia and came to South Asia via the Persians/Turks, and AFAIK, has usually been a communal oven for the entire village/neighbourhood, rather than one for a single household.
