my brain has currently been affected by a crackshipping plague brought upon me and my interests

they aren’t even things people can realistically stand by, they’re just really absurd and seem random unless you’re me and my partner jamie

A flapjack octopus (Opisthoteuthis sp.) floating at Axial Seamount at a depth of 1745 m. You can see the rocky ground below, along with a cable. The octopus is a squish orange blob, with small fins that look like tiny ears. The head and mantle are a rough dome shape. It has its arms extending out with their tips curled in, and the webbing between the arms is all stretched out.

Here we can see the noble flapjack octopus mimicking a flying saucer

one of these days i’m gonna delete all of my twitter accounts

i think i’m too susceptible to getting parasocial tendencies to actually engage in a fanbase 💀 it also makes my intrusive thoughts worse

even though i basically need it for an art career, i think literally anything else could help me

if anyone here has ocd and creates art in some way (writing, drawing, etc.), how do y’all manage to keep from spiraling from wanting everything to be perfect

Six photo slices of minerals arranged into a rainbow collage and below that, the six photos of the mineral specimens used for the collage. The crocoite consists of red, elongate crystals, from Tasmania, Australia. The wulfenite is tabular, interlocking orange crystals, from Arizona, USA. The sulphur is a mass of yellow crystals, from Sicily, Italy. The malachite contains curved banding in varying shades of green, from Russia. The azurite is a dark metallic blue resting on top of green malachite, from Arizona, USA. The amethyst consists of a mass of purple, translucent crystals, from Lake Superior, Canada.

All specimens are on display in the Natural History Museum, London.

drew this character as a first of a species i’ve been developing in my head
haven’t given them a proper name, but i’ve just thought of them as “mineral people”

it’s really great! i hope i can somehow incorporate what i’ve learned from both courses into characters based on rocks/minerals—it seems like it’d be fun :3

i’d recommend buying/finding some used textbooks online on the subjects, they’re really interesting!
