This 2D #MOF was a pleasure to study! Distinct #chiral phases emerged as a result of tilted molecules, giving us a great excuse to perform #nc-AFM π. Each chiral phase uniquely confined the Ag(111) surface state resulting in changes to the 2DEG band structure driven purely by structural symmetry.

we report the formation of a stable, surface-supported dinitrene achieved through the photolysis of a diazide precursor on an Au(111) metal substrate. We combine high-resolution scanning probe techniques with theoretical calculations, providing the first real-space imaging of a metal nitrene adsorbed on a surface and exploring the associated photoreaction mechanism.

Triangulene dimers linked by one or two para-biphenyl units were synthesized on Au(111). STM, non-contact AFM, and scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements reveal an open-shell singlet magnetic exchange coupling for Dimer 1 (ES-T=15β
mV), influenced by the dihedral angles of the two para-biphenyl units. Dimers 2β² with an ES-T=6.6β
mV were obtained from a more flexible precursor equipped with one para-biphenyl linker.
What's the only thing better than one triangulene? Two triangulenes!
