I'm releasing a wholesome metroidvania next month and it's self-published, so there's no one to tell me I need to make the promo art edgier for a western audience. But here's my best guess at what otherwise could have happened to the art:

If you already have posters, especially movie, get on that is thematically different than what you already have, to vary the room.
i.e. lots of people on one few people on the other.

Enjoyable birthment!

The dragon itself is brightly contrasted to the background. There are fine lines drawn around the creature itself to help distinguish some detail in the design. The background colors are out of focus. On the lower portion of colors there is some more inking of abstract lining. It helps to give a sense of motion and definition to that portion. Over the whole illustration is a white marker for highlights. There is some used to represent smoke coming out from its mouth and around its face. There are limited highlights among the dark colors at the top of the picture helping to represent clouds. There are more highlights around the monster helping to represent motion.
