That's how I remember it too. I rarely say this with Tomino but 'Why am I promoting your movie for you when you can't even be bothered to show up to the premier?' seems like an entirely reasonable complaint

Tomino tells a story about a meeting between the two of them that got so tense he was afraid YAS was going to pick him up and throw him through the window

And his bad feelings toward Tomino and the direction of Gundam from Zeta onward are well attested. They didn’t fall out until the mid-80s, but it seems likely that resentment was part of the motivation to do his own version of the story

‘Bias’ was chosen to set up the joke, not because it’s strictly the best word for what he was feeling. But YAS has taken three cracks at redoing the original series (redrawing for the movies, Origin, Cucuruz Doan’s Island movie) so I think it’s safe to say he wasn’t entirely satisfied with it
