Society may have overestimated risk of the ‘manosphere’, UK researchers say
Many who engage are ‘discriminating and value-driven’, with a minority consuming ‘extremely misogynistic content’, study for Ofcom suggests
It's kinda concerning that Ofcom, who we rely on to regulate internet companies in the UK, have published this. The only way we have overestimated the risk of the manosphere, is if we have underestimated the risk of patriarchal norms in society more broadly... www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

🚨 URGENT!
Conversion practices aim to change or suppress who LGBTQ+ people are. They’re harmful, degrading, and condemned as torture by the UN.

We are alarmed by the #Meta moderation policy changes announced yesterday, allowing dehumanising language targeting #LGBTI people. This threatens safety and dignity. We urge the EU to enforce the Digital Services Act to combat hate speech and misinformation. Hatred has no place online or anywhere.

Sounds familiar? Violence against #LGBTQI+ ppl comes from the same anti-democratic playbook of anti-gender actors. They're attacks on #humanrights & democratic principles protecting us all. Feminist & queer NGOs are at the frontline & require funding & support to hold the line #HumanRightsDay2024

🚨 It rings close to home: In 🇸🇰 a nationalist party is running a campaign bragging abt its 'success' of cutting funding to #LGBTQI+ NGOs. This comes as the govt pushes through a bill that sought to label NGOs w/ foreign funding as foreign agents. Currently it seeks to label civil society as lobby.
