This is Goose. His stick didn't fit through the door at first. But Goose believed in himself, and more importantly, so did his doorman. 13/10 (TT: bigstickgoose)

People walk with strollers along NW 58th St at 8th Ave NW, one waits for the pedestrian signal to change so they can cross the street.

Project Overview
Residents have requested traffic calming improvements along 8th Ave
NW and we are responding with some upgrades coming soon and more
next year.

Coming Soon: Intersection Daylighting!
In the coming months, we’ll daylight three intersections along 8th Ave NW.
β€œDaylighting” is when we use signs, paint, and other materials to make it
clear to drivers that it is not okay to park too close to intersections. This
helps everyone see each other better, which reduces crashes. Daylighting
does not remove existing parking spaces. It prevents parking in areas
where it is already illegal to park by State and City law.

Construction of
paint and post curb bulbs will begin at the following intersections along 8th Ave NW:
β€’ NW 70th St
β€’ NW 53rd St
β€’ NW 51st St

Next year: New crossings and traffic calming
In 2026, we’ll make additional improvements including proven traffic
calming measures along 8th Ave NW between Leary Way and NW 70th St.

Improvements are coming to 8th Ave NW in Ballard. We will start by β€œdaylighting” intersections to increase visibility. Next year, we’ll do more to make it safer to bike, walk, drive, and roll along the street: https://sdotblog.seattle.gov/2025/10/20/upgrades-to-8th-ave-nw-in-ballard-safer-travel/

Thinking about how Cal Raleighβ€”a quiet guy!β€”said two years ago ownership had to get serious. And how everyone wanted them to get Suarez, but we all thought they’d wouldn’t actually do it. And then they did.

And tonight he did that.

SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES
No. 25-385 (25A378)
CHARLES RAY CRAWFORD v. MISSISSIPPI ON APPLICATION FOR STAY AND ON PETITION FOR A WRIT OF CERTIORARI TO THE SUPREME COURT OF MISSISSIPPI
[October 15, 2025]
The application for stay of execution of sentence of death presented to JUSTICE ALITO and by him referred to the Court is denied. The petition for a writ of certiorari is de-nied.
JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR, with whom JUSTICE KAGAN and
JUSTICE JACKSON join, dissenting from the denial of application for stay and denial of certiorari.
Charles Ray Crawford will be executed tonight for a crime that his own lawyers told the jury he committed, despite his express instructions not to do so. Had this case come to this Court on direct appeal, Crawford could have proved that his Sixth Amendment rights were violated under our decision in McCoy v. Louisiana, 584 U.S. 414
(2018), in which we held that lawyers may not override a defendant's explicit and unequivocal decision not to concede guilt at trial. He would also likely be entitled to a new trial, as a McCoy violation is a structural error that mandates reversal.

Charles Ray Crawford has identified an important constitutional issue that this Court has not addressed and has divided courts around the country. The Court refuses to

The Supreme Court's Republican appointees let Mississippi kill Charles Ray Crawford tonight, despite treatment at trial that was of the same type that SCOTUS later held in another case is unconstitutional.

All three Democratic appointees, in a lengthy dissent, would have kept him alive.

I just like to post these data from time to time to puncture the mythological aura of mid 20th c protests. They were less popular than pretty much any 21st c mass action & people criticizing them used the same lines. Protest is about people coming together, shaping narratives, & building power.
