Black Necked Stork, last week. Beautiful birds these.

An aged wooden building is surrounded by dried foliage and some evergreen trees and sits under a bright blue sky. The gardens that were left for insects to overwinter in weren’t cleaned up in the fall but it looks like we can start that work soon.

The air smells different today. The wind is cold and will be until the last snow is off the far hills but the air is fresher now and I’m thinking about starting garden clean up.

Report from the Field. The ocean is over beyond the trees, and it brings in the fog. The branches of the trees all moving ever so slightly pulling the moisture into the forest. Cooler, too. Rain coming this week.

Precious rain

A lone worn down lighthouse stands on an island at the mouth of a harbour as ocean waves crash around it and roll up to a rocky beach in the foreground. The sky is pale blue and pink with dots of clouds.

I was awake at 4:30 and instead of just lying around got up and got ready to go outside. I headed to Hartlens Point. Devil's Island was looking lonely and cold. #NovaScotia

Hiking trail.

Crazy dry hot winter in Boulder.

My Hibiscus got a bloom today.
I rarely get blooms while she is indoors and last year I didn’t get one until my birthday in April 🌺🌸
So pretty on a cold winters day.

A rough gray stump, and a blurred-out tan background. And then there's the bird perched on the stump! Black head and neck, with a red eye and a black beak. White breast and belly with bright rust-colored flanks. Black-and-white wing. The tail is seen on edge, so the details aren't showing.

Beautiful day on the Bog Meadow Trail yesterday. Didn't see a soul. Saratoga.
