Kawase Hasui, Gosai Canal in Hiigata, description to follow

A colour-drenched woodblock print in shades of blue, showing a night scene. The only other colour is yellow light glowing gently from the windows of a house.

The foreground is of one side of the bridge - the viewer's perspective is of someone who is standing in the bridge looking over the water at a house. There are willow trees leaning over the water. A dog or a cat is trotting along a path next to the house.

The mood is serene and quiet.

I'm supposed to be taking a break from this place for 40 days!

Felt so outraged this morning though

Thank you Anna. That is very kind, and undeserved by me.

It's a general observation based on the fact that a general fatwah has been issued against Americans and Israelis (possibly Britons if the UK continues or escalates its involvement). Public transport networks are always primary targets for ideological vigilantism.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, it's going to become very unsafe to travel.

And I'm talking about public transport networks within western countries as well as internationally.

It was only a girls' school, after all.

They also had a sane government.

We are talking about pretexts, not rational actions.

I am in complete despair. I don't think any of us has ever seen this level of recklessness on an international level. And it's as if the standard of truth has been abolished. It's terrifying.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

If they can bomb Iran without credible pretext they can invoke the Insurrection Act and cancel the mid terms.

What we are seeing here, unlike with the Iraq invasion, is massive retrospective misinformation. It's already working. Soon we will always have been at war with Eurasia.

Two senior Iranian Shiite religious leaders, Grand Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani and Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, have issued fatwas calling on Muslims worldwide to take revenge for the killing of Khamenei. (Iran International)

And let's not forget "Ern" Goon, with his pale bulbous eyes, representative of the dimwitted working classes.

Bet Hannan feels the same about them and all

Yes, it's very significant that most of these people are from the fringes of former empire. They have a fixed, completely fictional, notion of The Old Country in their heads.

It's a peculiarly specific pathology.

Small Prophets is the most Generation X thing I've ever watched.

A comedy for people who spent their teens listening to Smiths records in their bedrooms.

Giving up social media for lent. It is, in our society, the equivalent of isolating yourself in the desert.

Race to find source of carcinogenic Pfas in Cumbria and Lancashire waters Exclusive: High levels of banned β€˜forever chemical’ have been detected in rivers and groundwater at 25 sites

It's still a shock to find a new PFAS forever chemical hotspot, even when it's inevitable. A bit of digging around paper mills, which often use PFAS, revealed the banned carcinogen PFOS at levels as high as 3,000ng/l in groundwater in south Cumbria

Imagine how vile a racist and genocide-advocate you have to be to have the UK slap sanctions on you.

But sure, have ten million quid.

Vastly more women than men. Just as true crime in general is consumed by more women than men (75-80%).

As victims or potential victims, we both empathise and follow them as cautionary stories.

The rich can always get sex. But they can't always get total domination, violence, control, and they can't always get people to shut up about it afterwards. This is the service Epstein offered.
