Turning whispers into games, let the Rumor unsettle you.

The image weโre sharing today gives me a strange kind of comfort. Beyond the symbolism, it feels like weโre getting closer to the thing we set out to build. Thereโs still a long road ahead, and we know weโll keep improving it for the final PC/console version.

Iโve always loved moody, atmospheric games, and so has my friend, so this feels like coming full circle from our first project together. Five years later, weโre finally taking the risk.
๐งถ[2/4]
Weโve never made a 3D game quite like this. The closest was Veil back in 2021, where my friend and I jumped in mostly as support. With Yellow Protocol, itโs our first real attempt at 3D with atmospheric horror.
๐งถ[1/4]
In the full game, we want to add more elements, including a photo feature so players can capture moments and write what they feel or think about each one.
๐งถ[5/5]
The โ?????โ were added to create space for expectation and future reveals. For example: imagine those question marks appearing mid-year in a scene with no obvious โobjectโ in sight, hinting at something supernatural.
๐งถ[4/5]
In this scene you can also see the main mechanic: a tool (think a camcorder with AI) that highlights points of interest for the player, who can then scan them to learn more.
๐งถ[3/5]
During the game jam we couldnโt explore the narrative as much as we wanted, but we added small details (signs and landmarks) to show the place was used by people in the past.
๐งถ[2/5]
One of our early goals was to build an atmosphere that feels strange and abandoned, yet still recognizable as natural and real. We leaned into the idea of an abandoned forest park.

If you enjoy atmospheric games, existential vibes, exploration, and that quiet, dark mystery, come along for the ride. And if you can, share with a friend. ๐

This is our first post. Step one in a series we will share over the next months. We are aiming to release later this year. It is early days, but we are starting the work to make it real.

A while back we were talking about a project we wanted to make. Mixing photography and exploring natural places. During the GMTK Game Jam, that idea became Yellow Protocol.
