Really excited that the baby of my PhD was finally published! doi.org/10.1016/j.ag...

We asked a seemingly simple question: Do dryland plants use water efficiently for carbon gain? Although the answer seems obvious, we actually found that it varies quite dramatically in time and space!🌐πŸ§ͺ

Atmospheric Feedbacks Reverse the Sensitivity of Modeled Photosynthesis to Stomatal Function Atmospheric feedbacks reverse the direction of photosynthesis sensitivity to stomatal function in the tropics and high latitudes Stomatal function with higher water cost per carbon gain leads to ...

New lab paper: How does photosynthesis respond to assumptions about stomatal functioning? We find that including atmospheric feedbacks reverses the direction of photosyn. response => stomatal cond. changes temp. & water stress. Led by Amy Liu, w/ many collaborators! doi.org/10.1029/2025...

Trump officials shut off funding for climate adaptation centers A third of the U.S. Geological Survey’s Climate Adaptation Science Centers are expected to drastically wind down and possibly close after Sept. 30.

Despite broad political support, one third of the nation's Climate Adaptation Science Centers will wind down in coming days due to lack of funds.

The Northeast, South Central, and Pacific Islands will be left without actionable science on drought, floods, wildfire, sea level rise and other hazards.

Also in GCB: a meta-analysis of precipitation pulse-responses in C and water cycling (doi.org/10.1111/gcb....). *Huge* effort by @ecophysism.bsky.social. We characterized both the size of response to pulses, and also the shape (do we even see a hump?). Future C-water coupling shifts are possible 🌐🌍
