Anyway, I was there to do an interview in a field about why theme parks are actually great.

A broken planning system and constantly giving in to NIMBYs is why we don't have better ones in the UK.

Consultations aren't representative and we should always take them with a massive pinch of salt.

But usually those that oppose a project are far more likely to respond than those that support (like, 5 to 6 times more likely).

So getting a response like this really is quite something.

Imagine buying a new-build and paying full council tax, only to find you must pay a private company to fix the road and streetlights - and the fees can rise at any point with no explanation.

It's families in temporary accommodation and people struggling to pay their energy bills who are facing the consequences of our failure to build homes and energy infrastructure.

Reform DOGE is a very good thing tbh. It should be encouraged. Let them see where the money is actually going and then still pretend there are billions to cut on woke.

Dan is right (and it’s why Gary S frustrates me so much - it’s very much “try this simple trick to fix society that only impacts people you hate”). Ultimately we are probably not at the revenue maximising top rate of tax, but there v likely is a rate where the revenue sign is negative.

Britain’s economic decline is an emergency – like war or a pandemic. If we don’t put an end to it, Nigel Farage will be Prime Minister.

The system is addicted to inertia. It needs shock therapy, now.

I don't know if I am going mad, but it won't let me skip this.

It's happened again: the Conservatives have spun a number that would be a disaster for their party to lose (this time, 542) and they've managed to beat it.

Yeah we have become dreadful and slow at building things. That is why e.g. the planning and infa bill and the 10 year infrastructure strategy are so important.

11) Ending the long term employment disputes with nurses, teachers, junior doctors, Heathrow security staff, criminal barristers, Arriva bus drivers, and BT workers.
12) Handling the Farage riots in an exemplary way
13) The statesmanship of Starmer when handling Trump and the EU.
etc. etc. etc.

Nonsense. The current planning rules fail both nature and building, which is why we have become one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. Rather than wasting money on bat tunnels that do nothing for bats, cash will be spent where it is actually needed, improving nature!
