Restricting disability benefits kills disabled people.
So if you’re advocating that we make the system harsher, harder, more inaccessible, less “generous”…
You’re advocating for killing disabled people.

You’re advocating for killing disabled people.
Far too many people resort to sexualising literally everything…
It’s super immature and quite pathetic really.
No, a body isn’t inherently sexual.
No, clothes aren’t inherently sexual.
No, we shouldn’t be sexualising children’s bodies.
No, gender identity isn’t sexual.
Making a system like disability benefits harder to “defraud”, absolutely makes it harder for disabled people to get that support that they need.
And actually, it does very little to address the “fraud”… and almost exclusively harms the most vulnerable
Under the current PIP criteria, if you are able to put something into the oven, but not able to actually clean up after preparing it, you don’t get anything…
So you can apparently cook without support even if you have to do it in a dirty kitchen.
Totally

For some people, out of work benefits are a vital temporary safety net.
For others, they are the only option someone has to live.
New post: LABOUR'S SECTION 28 IS HERE - ACT NOW.
I explain how the Labour government's proposed revisions to the guidance on "keeping children in education" are designed to erase trans children in England. But it's not a done deal - there is plenty we can do to oppose this.
Completely agree with you, minimum wage should be an absolute minimum for anyone

Benefits are the money of the person receiving them, to spend however they need and choose to.
All benefits should be seen as fundamental entitlements for anyone who qualifies.

Agree however I think PIP should always be separate and additional as that’s about the additional costs of being disabled.

A comprehensive study of over 5,000 Trans+ athletes, has found that trans women likely do not have athletic advantages over cisgender women after undergoing hormone therapy. Published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, it found that while trans women’ showed higher levels of lean mass than cis women.
The researchers found that there was no evidence "to justify blanket bans" and called for policies to "remain dynamic, guided by evolving evidence and ethical imperatives"

The significantly positive economic multiplier of disability benefits is proof that they aren’t too “generous”, or “easy to get”.
Because I t’s proof that disabled people spend their disability benefits… they don’t hold it, they don’t save much… it’s spent as they need it.
If someone is assessed as unable to work due to disability, they should receive a minimum of a liveable income.
It’s not their choice, they can’t change their circumstances, so they should not be punished.
This should not be controversial.
More like democide tbh

A huge unsung army in the UK is all the unpaid carers who keep the health and social care system afloat whilst being paid a maximum of £2 per hour for it (reality a lot less).
All the disabled people who keep local and national businesses going.
Without them, society collapses.
If a child doesn’t feel able or safe to tell their parents something, believe them.
They may be misguided…
But they might not be.
I’d rather be wrong, than see a child get abused because their parents have been told.
A pissed off parent is preferable compared to an abused child
Think this is pretty common for us disabled folk… but the worse I feel, the more “stupid” stuff I do.
It’s distraction, plus a “fuck it I’ll feel shit anyway” sort of thing, I think… mixed with not giving a shit any more.
Everyone’s body is different.
Everyone’s brain is different.
What works for one, won’t work for another.
“Health” is subjective, and being “healthy” means different things to different people.
It’s also a huge privilege if you have your health, and don’t live in constant pain.
Something that isn’t talked about much is the hollow, shaky, flu-like symptoms you get after a bad pain flare.
Just feeling absolutely shit, lifeless, and devoid of all motivation or ability to do anything.
Cutting benefits for those assessed as unable to work, clearly isn’t about “supporting people to work”.
It’s about punishing the most vulnerable.
The most vulnerable disabled people are being killed.
If you ask a disabled person what helps, and they say “I don’t know”…
It’s not because they are being annoying, it’s because they probably genuinely don’t know what helps at that moment in time.
We might know something is off, but we don’t always know what to do about it
Have ended up cancelling my scope which was meant to be next week… no way I could travel with bowels like this.
Surgeon’s secretary was nice and has offered an appointment with the surgeon in 6 weeks’ time to hopefully decide what’s next… if I can make it there…
In an alarming development, it appears the UK Government covered up a massive spike in trans youth suicides after restrictions.
Then covered it up again when caught.
Now, after fighting for years, the data is public: trans suicide increased 5x in the country.

“But rich people create the jobs”
Yeah so they can get everyone else to do the work whilst they profit and pay their employees poverty wages.
If those at the “bottom” of the job ladder don’t work, nothing else would ever get done.
Even the “worst” job should pay enough to live
When I’ve been in hospital, I’ve always been super grateful when given a side room.
However it does worry me how much more you’re essentially ignored and forgotten about when in one…
It’s better to rest, but the staff need to check up on you more regularly than they do imo.
If someone cannot work…
Punishing them with poverty won’t change that.
No amount of “support” will change that.
Trying to force them into work won’t change that.
Because they can’t work.
(Poverty/punishment isn’t a motivator even for those who could work, by the way)
“How did people manage before WFH”
Many didn’t.
Many couldn’t work.
Many did work but were so exhausted that they had no lives.
Many didn’t spend time with their children.
Many had to spend a lot more money on transport, carers, etc…
It’s called choice and progress.
I’m going to have to cancel my sigmoidoscopy as there is just no way I can travel for 2+ hours each way with my stoma as it is right now…
Not a clue what to do now tbh…
No one closer to home will touch me, and not sure I can go through with any more anyway.
What a mess.
