I, uhhhh, meant to do Rain on the Grass as a scarf rhyme but somehow spontaneously forgot the words and invented a new SONG to the tune of Farmer in the Dell that actually worked perfectly so a+ for thinking on my feet?

I'm still getting used to Wednesday as my new storytime day, and I had a slightly different group of kids today. But storytime itself was fun--garden & soil themed, with a STEM focus. We talked about what makes good soil, I read Worm Makes a Sandwich, and we did garden sensory bins & playdough.

Beth the chicken, after a recent adventure where she ended up spend the night wandering around before returning home. Happily, she's fine, although we're still not sure how she got out of the yard!

Despite being featured in a summer cookbook, the fennel & date salad was a great end-of-winter option!

Can I add Taylor Heise? Not many people can play hockey in the Olympics without starting out in a super competitive, well funded league. She didn't have any of that. UMN grad marrying another.

Ooh, thank you!! I'm not super familiar with her, to be entirely honest. Glad to know some of her backstory!

Note: I have not highlighted Abbey Murphy here, even through she's a wickedly talented player, because reportedly she's pretty far right politically & I can't support that.

This is just scratching the surface, as there are a ton of amazing players who either haven't made their national rosters or who aren't from the US or Canada! (Abby Roque, my beloved problem child...)

And a special shout-out to Claire Thompson and Sophie Jacques, my favorite defensive duo! They both previously played for the Frost and are now on Vancouver and they're lots of fun to watch.

Sarah Nurse is an amazing forward who's dealt with some tough injuries during the past few seasons. She played for the Sceptres for two seasons and now is an alternate captain for Vancouver. I was so pleased she was back in time to play in the Olympics!
