He didn't specifically say it, but if he had he wouldn't be wrong.

The Constitution allows lying. Whether that equals "condones" is up to you.

shall we choose which facts we use? Shall we trust the government? We already have independent fact checkers who do this as part of their jobs, and from time to time people try to fact check Pres. Trump in real time. It never matters, nor does it ever help. 2/x

It's a legal argument, as you referred to 1A protections. Lay that aside, though. Who would fact check things in real time? Who would decide what qualify as facts? I have many friends who genuinely believe things that are demonstrably untrue, and who believe the same of me in return. How 1/

I have no problem with people making a fuckton of money. I have a problem with people making a fuckton of money and worrying that everybody else might be trying to steal it from them because they want healthcare or want you to pay more taxes on your billions. It's fucking ridiculous.

I was on a podcast a few months back where each episode looks over the music of a given year and tries to reach consensus on the best albums. The year I had was 1972, and my co-guest was Susan Rogers, who was Prince's house sound engineer at Paisley Park Studios. Withers' "Still Bill" ended up 1/

I also suspect that these same suspicious patterns that might point to vote manipulation can be found in almost any election, if the people looking are motivated enough.

On re-reading (something I should have done before posting) I realized that could sound as if I'm blaming you in some way, which wasn't my intent.

I'm genuinely surprised to learn it's been that long, and sorry as well. Granting that I don't really know you nor the circles you move in, I can't understand it at all.

Pockets are great! I wish I could remember the comedian who has a conspiracy theory about women and their pockets. Something like "women's pockets are in the pocket of Big Pocket." I'm sorry that you despair for dates and prospects. That's a hard place to be.

The thing about PBS is that LeVar Burton was to me what MrBeast is to kids today.

I agree with you, Occam. I don't pick that up from Colbert at all. His faith seems genuine and humble, as does he as a person. I don't pick up any of the messianic Christian nationalist vibes from him.

Anyway, for me, the vision is something like this: America should be a society that works to fulfill the promise of democracy β€” we should have the agency to live at our own direction. Not as victims of circumstance or under the thumb of the wealthy and powerful. Our lives are our own.

I looked up Harmonies and found two games by that name. One is music related, and in the other you build habitats for animals. Which one did you play?

It's news as much as MSNBC is. Rachel Maddow used the same defense in court (entertainment, not news) as Tucker Carlson did. FWIW Fox meets the requirements of the Fairness Doctrine right now, even if it could somehow be applied to them.

Rob Kennedy spelled some of it out below. Additionally, were the Fairness Doctrine still in effect, cable channels like Fox News, Newsmax, MSNBC, etc. wouldn't be subject to it. Even if they somehow were, Fox News meets it's requirements right now, with no changes needed.

Hi Luna. That's not how the FD worked. I was in radio news back then. Even if it were still in force today, and even if it could be applied to Fox News, etc. (it couldn't) it wouldn't change anything. Fox News meets the requirements of the Fairness Doctrine right now, as it is, with no changes.

Agreed. Many mainstream public schools have gotten so big that kids barely know one another, let alone teachers being able to know their students. I'm glad you're in a place where those bonds can be nurtured.

Thanks! I'm an old guy - it's impossible for me to imagine calling one of my teachers by their first name as a student. It's hard enough now w/those that I've maintained friendships with over the years.

Say Mizzoh, may I ask a question? (None of my business, okay to say no.) I wondered, based on the play on Mizzou in your name except w/an h, if you're from Ohio. I grew up in Tipp City, about 10 miles north of Dayton.

The whole Nicole Wallace thing was weird, too. It was interesting to watch Chris Noth and Jeff Goldblum in the lead roles, though. They have such different acting styles.

I agree with this. I felt the same about L and O: Criminal Intent. The earliest episodes are easily the best, before we start getting into Bobby Goren's back story and therapy sessions.

Negotiating With Terrorists, Unsuccessfully How to lose ideological battles by believing in nothing.

America's most prestigious universities fundamentally believe in nothing except themselves. Their capacity to lose ideological battles is therefore infinite.
