As the federal government seeks to slash critical funding for libraries, Illinois is investing in our residents and communities. We worked with our partners in the General Assembly to create a new state formula to benefit 108 library districts serving 700,000+ residents.

While federal support for libraries is under threat, Illinois is investing. Our new funding formula expands state library aid from 17 to 108 libraries serving 700,000+ people statewide. Proud to get this done for our rural and underserved communities.

The Westside Cultural Archive empowers Chicagoans to preserve and share their cultural history through community-centered archiving. Launched today during #IllinoisArchivesMonth, the project will strengthen community pride and preserve cultural memory.

Chicago has lost a legend. Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt was more than Loyola University Chicago’s team chaplain – she was the heart of a city that cheered with her, learned from her and loved her. May her legacy of faith and hope continue to inspire generations on and off the court. 🕊️

It’s been more than two years since Illinois made history with our First-in-the-Nation law banning book bans. While other states have normalized censorship in schools and libraries, Illinois continues to stand firm in defending the Right to Read.

This week our office opened a new full-service DMV in Orland Park with longer hours and expanded services, including road exams. It’s now easier for residents and nearby communities to easily cross tasks, like driver’s license or vehicle registration renewals, off the list.
