it's a medium/technology that doesn't produce anything without a human prompting it to. i say this as an artist (have to say this or else people continue to assume there's a divide between artist and 'ai user'): all this stuff about ai art being inhuman/not art is reactionary

i wish people would be substantially more careful with their choice to dismiss art/games they don't like as "not art / not a game"

i've asked llms for help debugging code to great effect. i've learned quite a bit from being able to ask more complex/specific coding questions than i can usually find good answers to if googled (but which can be verified after the fact). point is, llms are good at some things, bad at others

One of the ways that LLM-authored code improves productivity is by merely SAYING it does things. It's way faster than the whole time-consuming process of actually doing things. This is real code someone sent to me for review. A screenshot of a code editor. The line numbers are in the lefthand column, running from 121 to 125. There is a comment that says "Verify packages were created and check sizes" Then line 123 says echo Verifying Lambda packages were created... and Line 124 says echo checkmark emoji colon All Lambda packages verified successfully. There is no line in here that actually did anything.

fun fact: in the AI biz, what you call "glazing" and think makes your data useless we call an "augmentation". it actually makes your data better. if the data is all the same the model tends to memorize it. if you vary it up in complicated ways the model has to learn how to make sense of it instead.
