The military junta accused the Kachin Independence Army and allied PDFs of using suicide drones to attack civilians, a claim the KIA denied.

Overnight, the military carried out airstrikes on KIA headquarters and shelled areas around Myitkyina, with explosions hitting civilian homes and causing heavy damage and casualties.

On January 22 at around 4:00 p.m., the Myanmar military junta launched two airstrikes on Kawngja Village, Bhamo, during a local prayer service. At least 20 civilians were killed and over 40 wounded—another grave violation against innocent lives.
