Feeling like it’s time to give Bluesky another go. I’ve never really warmed fully to Threads - and I miss proper media interaction.

What’s your best tips please for growing the right audience of followers here on Bluesky?

Are we treating it like Twitter in the olden days?

Thank you!

Just seen Musk tweet re Germany. I said about 3yrs to friends that he was the most dangerous man in the world and would be the biggest threat to all of us on the planet. Sadly I’m being proved right. They just laughed at me. And said he was a great businessman. Only wish I could laugh about it now.

End of term today for @mrjamesob.bsky.social - hoping between 12pm and 1pm for the final hour we get to play board games (Mystery Hour obviously) and watch videos (Spectrum ZX documentary).

Interesting discussion with @mrjamesob.bsky.social right now on the PM’s oratory. I picked up immediately on the gaffe below and he makes similar ones often when he misspeaks or mumbles words. I think his speechwriters need changing. Or perhaps he’s a control freak who doesn’t take advice from them.

Who the hell thought it was a good idea to host Keir Starmer’s refresh speech at the home of the Carry On movies!!!!

As if Labour haven’t already had enough comedic moments in its first six months.

Wondering if the Justice Secretary threatened to resign over the Haigh issue given SKS just made a poor slip of the tongue at PMQs in his answer to Badenoch when she asked about the former Transport Secretary - as he then said “the Justice Secretary resigned”. Keir is pretty rubbish vs Kemi today

Just turned on @lbc.co.uk and @mrjamesob.bsky.social is talking about these, my favourite jelly beans that I first found a few months ago in B&M.

Now this is truly what I listen to his show for.

If only he’d bring back Beat the Sweet, we could all rest easy during these tough times globally x

I’ve loved every minute of Seal Team’s seven seasons. Even when it dipped for a bit. But wow, that final ever episode screened in the UK last night was absolute 100% nailed on perfect!

Way too many MPs today are basically saying because our country is broken, because we haven’t been able to do a good job on many laws in the past, and because we’ve failed the health service and fouled up other safeguards, we can’t go ahead with this Assisted Dying Bill. Which begs urgent major Qs!

Robert Jenrick just said we must vote against this Bill cos activist judges in Strasbourg will change it further down the line. Give me strength. Is there anything he won’t connect to Europe, the EU, and courts abroad.

Brilliant speech by Sir David Davis who’s voting for the principle of the Bill so it can be overseen more deeply at next stage. He says more people in this country care about this issue than anything else Parliament will debate - and so the Gov must make adequate time for scrutiny if it passes today

My mum died under the LCP. I wondered for a long time whether she was put on it too early. Whether she might have had more time with us. And maybe she was, and maybe she would have. But I’d be much more confident in a proper assisted dying process - not ad hoc decisions by rushed hospital doctors.

From Assisted Dying Bill debate so far, some MPs are making perfect the enemy of the good. There’s no 100% certainty in life or in death. But surely passing the Bill at this stage so it can be debated even more is democracy. Voting it down now just restricts discussion. It can be voted down later.

If Tory MPs like Danny Kruger care so much about end of life care, why has his party spent the last 14yrs in Government leaving hospices to be funded by charitable donations, with many of them closing or scaling down due to lack of money. If he was that bothered, he’d have had a Bill to change that.

Huge blow for Labour to lose Haigh from the Cabinet. One of their best media performers and very public-facing with Transport; a well-publicised initial success. Half a year in power and it’s already unravelling. Feels a one-term Gov then Nige doing a deal with Tories and grabbing power. Scary stuff

Thanks for creating this as I’m new to Brighton as a resident.

For Labour to have allowed itself to lose huge momentum, goodwill, hope, and excitement for change - in <6mth - is abject failure of its comms strategy + preplanning for Government. It should be riding a huge wave of optimism but has now lost all media/social media narratives. How was it so naive?

I like my Bellroy one. There’s a good Orbitkey one right now that folds out to use it on the desk as a mat for the Mac.

I’ve no idea what match I’ve just watched so could someone let me know when #Spurs are playing away at Man City this season please. Thanks.

“Some of your comments don’t hang together logically,” says @shelaghfogarty.bsky.social to a caller very politely.

But “Some” was doing huge heavy lifting there as this lady has been talking absolute madness for the past few minutes.

ironically this place is beginning to sound like an echo chamber because all you lot have been talking about for days is whether it really is a fucking echo chamber

Echo chambers built ships, invented computers and dragged us out of the dark ages.

Maybe, in 1990, Tim Berners-Lee should have listened to Terry from The Rose and Crown and his take on the future of an internetworked society, concurring that it was actually all bollocks, mate.

It’s only 90-ish minutes. Very good. But all too real still sadly.

Wow, Woman of the Hour is a powerful watch. Anna Kendrick is superb as always. But what a shocking true story - and 45 years on from it, women still aren’t being believed about actions of men… and so more and more women carry on being murdered by men. Not a spoiler cos Netflix blurb explains this.

Sometimes the absolute madness of a particular bit of marketing copywriting totally astounds me. This is one such day. For a minute I thought “double discount” meant BOGOF. Which would be really crazy 😂

Have definitely found far more of my favourite former Tweeters in just two days (I’ve not been on there for nearly 18 months) than I ever did over on Threads. So does seem this is the genuine like-for-like replacement. Until it isn’t. Like David Cameron… everything is the future once.
