Oh gosh not at all! I completely agree and it makes sense in the context of the USA. It's just equally alarming to see other regions following suit - you weren't dismissive at all, don't worry!

Nevra is extremely low on funds and may be forced to return to a DV setting that WILL worsen her very severe ME/CFS significantly. She is suffering significantly due to running out of antibiotics and estrogen cream to prevent UTI.

Nevra requires further fundraising!

Please consider donating and reflect upon the fact that this is the reality for many living with ME/CFS!

True, unfortunately the same trend is being repeated globally across governments who are not in the same political scenario. There seems to be a collective decision to "surrender" to the devastation of Long Covid with little attempts to alleviate the situation.

With more people falling ill with post covid complications, why are Long Covid being shut down?

Likewise, an overall of clean air strategies in public spaces, particularly schools, is needed. So better ventilation and HEPA filters. This would similarly take the onus off the individual to mask, but I still think would masking benefit from becoming culturally normalised as in east Asia.

I do get your point and the offer of free vaccines should absolutely be there. However, vaccines do not stop people from developing chronic post viral conditions. I believe we need to better inform people of these risks so they can in turn make informed decisions like masking.

@togetherwemask.bsky.social very kindly shared my story regarding Long Covid.

In the context of the current flu surge, don't be afraid to ventilate or mask. It could save a life and that life could be yours!

😷 Masks aren't traumatising.
Abandonment is.
Airborne denial is.
Hospital-acquired infection is.
Long Covid and severe ME is.

The most traumatising part of the ongoing pandemic and current flu surge is the refusal to care. /14

Flu Spike: Should We Bring Back Masks? | This Morning's View YouTube video by This Morning

The discussions of masking here highlight a huge misunderstanding in how airborne viruses function.

This, in turn, highlights a massive failure in public health education.

Public Health needs to highlight the difference between airborne and droplet transmission. It is vital to protect our health.

Long Covid has now surpassed asthma as the most common childhood condition contributing to memory issues, concentration and anxiety.

We need to reflect this in studies, as we are only getting one part of the picture.

Minister Admits Airborne COVID Risk In Schools Minister’s letter implicitly recognises airborne COVID-19 risks in schools but offers no central funding for clean air measures.

Finally, politicians are recognising airborne viruses exist, and clean air strategies are a dire need - especially in our schools and in the context of the current flu surge!

BBC Somerset - 3 out of family of 4 diagnosed with ME/CFS
YouTube video by Broken Battery BBC Somerset - 3 out of family of 4 diagnosed with ME/CFS

Excellent interview regarding the devastating impacts of ME/CFS. The fact that Long Covid - with an estimated 40% - 60% meeting ME/CFS criteria - is not yet treated as an occupational illness in Ireland is further evidence of a societal underestimation of the severity of post-viral conditions.
