I did the same when we got a new TV a few years ago; checked around after driving home with one model and the Best Buy outlet by us had a Really Good one for like 1/3 the usual price (I hadn't taken the first one out of the box yet thankfully)

R. H. Bing (October 20, 1914 – April 28, 1986)[1] was an American mathematician who worked mainly in the areas of geometric topology and continuum theory.

R. H. Bing (October 20, 1914 – April 28, 1986)[1] was an American mathematician who worked mainly in the areas of geometric topology and continuum theory.

Bing's father was named Rupert Henry, but Bing's mother thought that "Rupert Henry" was too British for Texas. Thus she compromised by abbreviating it to R. H.[5] Consequently, R. H. does not stand for a first or middle name.

When Bing was applying for a visa, he was requested not to use initials. He explained that his name was really "R-only H-only Bing", and ended up receiving a visa made out to "Ronly Honly Bing".

I love both, but Star Trek is written by way too many people with conflicting visions to have any sort of coherent universe to imagine things in β€” it's about thorny ethical questions and wrinkly foreheads

Star Wars is the place to go for daydreaming and thinking up alternate histories

there's something a bit odd about an account getting huge for one thing, then seeing them get 20k likes for [very standard observation]

(but it's also not their fault)

this also drives me a bit nuts; bread-type recipes are super bare-bones and have like 4 ingredients β€” it's all about practiced technique and that's not something that's easy (or even useful) to write down

ground plan of the Skara Brae site in Orkney, Scotland, inhabited from about 3180 to 2500 BCE; it's on yellowed paper and shows a close collection of 10 interconnected dwellings

there were evidently indoor toilets with water that drained out to the ocean, a shared room for tool-making and general crafts, and fairy sophisticated art and other crafts

this kind of smart, walkable, mixed-use urbanism is illegal to build in most american cities
