Did someone say CHEESE? No? Well, you should have, as today’s adventure brings me to that Cheddar, birthplace of the world famous cheese, Red Leicester.

The tea shop used to be called Derricks, now it isn’t, but they used to do a nice cup of tea last time I was here.

What a great day, a church, a cathedral, a medieval world map, AND I uncannily managed to find a book shop!

Just wish I’d taken the train now, so I could have had a pint. I walked past some lovely looking pubs too.

It doesn’t get more tropical than this on a February afternoon, oh yeah, I’m at Barry!

Going to try and spend the 8p I have in cash at the fun fair, and hope there’s a chippy that takes card.

Wetlands ho! (Again)

It was a sunny walk to the Gwent Wetlands, back in 2018, which inspired me to launch The Pilgrim magazine.

It’s muddy, but still a good day to enjoy the quiet, and boy, do I need the quiet lately, as completely burned out!

Not seen this in yonks!

Is β€˜yonks’ still a thing? Anyway, we all have our heroes, and one of mine is Ray Harryhausen who created the amazing effects for Jason and the Argonauts.

One more after this, could be setting a new record here for three films in a row in colour AND sound!

Well, had a thrilling Friday the 13th so far! I went for my third walk this week during rain intervals and tried the bread from my new breadmaker, which I bought after the microwave blew up!

Who said romance is (un)dead?

For Valentine's Day in 1931, Universal Pictures released Dracula across the USA, starring Bela Lugosi.

Largely based on the 1924 stage play, it differs greatly from the novel and offers a more 'confined' version of the story.

An eerie morning this morning. Sadly messed up the light on the first photo, but you get the message; it was foggy!

Very nice for the rain to take a break this morning, so I could finally get out for a morning walk again, after months of illness and non-stop wet.

May go for another next month!

A bit of a soggy afternoon at Newark Park today for the snowdrops and a day trip.

I was going to go last weekend, but it was raining!

Celebrating the end of a texious week listening to music from my least favourite decade. I really didn't like this album when it came out, but listening now, I may have been a little harsh.

Getting bored with this! Might go to the pub on the weekend, if I can find my wellies!

Going to be honest, all this rain has dampened my enthusiasm for the Melania documentary!

To the Edge of the World by Tilar J. Mazzeo I've always been fascinated by exploration, especially the expeditions led by such pioneering figures as Ernest Shackleton and Roald Amundsen

Embarking on some day trips this year, I've just joined the National Trust, so have to get my money's worth!

Planning on Avebury Manor tomorrow, if it's open.

Three years ago saw my first ever trip to Paris, and have to be honest, that was a good curry & chips, along with the 9% 'session' beer.

I think another trip to Paris is on the cards!

It was at the Dolman in Newport. Now and again they do something like that, which is worth the trip going.

I’ve actually remembered to light the cinnamon candle this year, so the living room smells rather nice, I’ve got a drink, crusty bread and pate (starting the cheese later) and some festivity-related films.

Not bad for a Wednesday evening!

Can I just offer my apologies for the lack of updates recently? This has been due to me having surgery, then followed by the cold from hell, then followed by a serious dose of food poisoning I'm still trying to recover from!

The sample issue is on its way, just a slight delay. Thanks, Tom

Happy birthday to Carrie Fisher, born #onthisday 21 Oct 1956, who played Bianca Burnette in Scream 3 and Mrs Crenshaw in Sorority Row.

However, she is fondly remembered as a public speaker, author and Princess Leia to millions around the world.

Frankenstein: Why Mary Shelley's 200-year-old horror story is so misunderstood As a new film starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi is released, why is the message of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel still overshadowed by its success, more than two centuries on?

I've just discovered (albeit late) this rather lovely hardback #GraphicNovel of Dracula, published by Legendary Comics, starring Bela Lugosi.

It looks fantastic and is a wonderful homage to both the novel and the actor who became synonymous with the characterisation of the role.

I've been missing getting out and about on weekends, so I've been thinking about National Trust membership, in the hope I may make a bit more use of my weekends.

Weekends used to be for adventures, which I've not had for a while.

Yes, I will still be ghost hunting!

Sunday mornings (along with any other time of day) were made for Betty Davis.

Such an underrated, sexy and funky album! Although only releasing 5 albums, she remains one of the most great breaking funk artists of the 70s and 80s.
