Stopped by my seminary alma mater’s table and got to chat with Jesus and his mom. Always good to catch up with the Theotokos and her son.

Thanks, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale! βš“οΈ

Sean explains he’s asking us in the room to have a candid conversation with him β€” here, not online. So I’m signing off these comments.

I will say this: he’s reminding us of the centrality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in powerful ways.

We ground our understanding of the world not in disdain for the world, but in embracing it.

Jesus came not to the righteous but to save sinners.

Re: social media: β€œyou can have an unexpressed thought.”

He encourages us not to live on outrage or to believe that only things that happen on social media are real.

Sean Rowe, presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, is speaking here at the EPN Conference to rectors & deans.

He starts by saying the Episcopal Church will, β€œin a stunning turn of events,” have a strategy. βš“οΈ

I’m sorry for you. Hope you will, if you feel able, say something to your priest. I think I lot of folks don’t realize the damage they may do.

A prayer for peace πŸ™

O God, Who hast made of one blood all nations, mercifully receive the prayers that we offer for our anxious and troubled world.
Send Thy light into our darkness, and guide the nations as one family into the ways of peace. ... 1/2

I guess people who don’t like β€œwoke” must really hate Ephesians 5:14.

I mean, the Bible literally tells us to be woke. In every sense.

…at least buy from a local independent bookseller, who shares more money with the publisher.

Also, if you wonder why books are sometimes crazy expensive, it’s that the publisher has to sell that β€œ$20 book” for retail of $40 just to make ends meet.

25.02.2026 02:30 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

…both ways if books are returned. That leaves around $7 or less for the publisher. Buy the time they pay for printing and royalties, they have $2 left. That’s not enough to pay editors, designers, marketing people, and the rest. So, yeah, they may incur an effective loss.

Buy direct! Or…

25.02.2026 02:28 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Let’s take a hypothetical $20 book, just to make the math easy. Say the author gets a $2 royalty and it costs $3 to print. If you buy it direct from the publisher, they have $15 of net income.

If you buy it on, say, Amazon, they take 60% plus they charge the publisher for shipping…

This is a *lovely* photo essay by a photographer who walked across Dallas, TX in two days and met some excellent humans. Truly, what a wonderful way to experience a city. We live in a beautiful world.
