Mario & Luigi: Dream Team contains various unused test rooms in its files. One of these is the "two dead Luigis" test room, which is identical to the Mushrise Park entrance from the finished game, except there are two Luigis lying on the ground. The Luigis are unresponsive.

yes even the game boy ones. I fucking hated all three of them and you should still play them and this is not said out of twisted malice. go give them a shot they are very interesting

I've only played one SaGa game that I've actually enjoyed (revenge of the seven) and I still think you should play the series. they're so cool

like the last meal was worth eating, it did serve its purpose as a meal, but 10/10 times I would pick the new meal if I had to choose

imagine someone cooks you a meal and it's got some interesting notes to it but on the whole it's rather mediocre. and then you come back a few years later and they've cooked you another meal and its phenomenal. and they go "thanks I took notes from your reaction to the last meal". thats ff2 and saga

saga existing does not invalidate final fantasy 2 but it sure as hell ain't doin it any favors

I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on this whole thing or even just politely disagree on this specific point. it's a good video and you should watch it

the subtitles are (fully admittedly) auto-generated by youtube and gone back over by the creator herself so it is entirely possible there is some sort of nuance to her words that is not coming through

but at the same time it's not the thematic throughline of the video it's simply a statement in the frame of a larger narrative so it's not like it's argument-dismantling or anything. the video and her points are still sound

and so like. the tropes themselves are typically at the very least neutral-leaning-toward-good, yeah? but that doesn't change the ideas they were born from. it kinda just feels like we're doing the "it got woke" thing but in the other direction, like "oh they took ideas and made them bad"

because a lot of the common tropes in jrpgs feel descendant of the "japan is the little guy getting bullied by all the nations and we need to return to when we were strong and awesome" thing that japanese conservatives like to do. which is also what e33 is doing just more explicitly

it feels more apt to say "the type of fascist whinging e33 posits is more recognizably western and french" rather than "e33 is a right-wing game in a genre of left-leaning titles" because it feels like jrpgs became like that more accidentally than anything

there's this point she makes every so often that's along the lines of "e33 takes the left-leaning feel of jrpg tropes and refocuses them in a right-wing manner" and I feel like that's being a little... not dishonest, like it's true on a technical level but it feels like bending the truth a little?

one difficulty of doing real genuine criticism about fascism in popular art is that it really is the background radiation of our culture so you can argue this about most popular things, which perversely just makes criticism seem like a zero sum game
