A cohort study does not PROVE anything, it only suggests potential associations. It makes sense however, that a diet rich in quality nutrient-dense foods decreases NAFLD risk. People in the highest FDS quartile clearly had better quality diets overall. Those with low FDS were smokersβunhealthy!

Interesting, both decaffeinated and caffeinated coffee are associated with stimulating beneficial gut bacteria, particularly L. asaccharolyticus. Since it's also decaffeinated coffee, it's not the caffeine producing this effect but likely polyphenols in coffee may exert some influence.

YES! Onions contain thiosulfinides, flavonoids, calcium, potassium, manganese, chromium; and they are a good source of B vitamins and vitamin C; along with containing fructansβa source of soluble prebiotic fiber. Very nutritious! They are delicious roasted - or cooked any way - YUM!

Carbohydrates have the biggest influence on #bloodsugarlevels, that's why you read a lot about them for #type2diabetes and #prediabetes.
Doesn't mean avoiding all #carbohydrates but choosing mainly vegetables, which are a carb, is the best way to minimize blood sugar & insulin spikes & lower A1c

Yeh, that's often the recommendation (right before a meal or with the meal) so perhaps for you with IBSD, not good to change that. But interesting to consider the research!

Although sad, of course that makes sense, since high glucose causes damage to vessels throughout the body.

Glad to hear it came down better! #Metformin is often recommended right before meals to reduce gastro effects, but recent research found that taking it 30-60 min before meals may lead to lower blood sugar and it increases natural GLP-1 hormone (same hormone #Ozempic mimics). Might want to try it. π
