Just picked up our luggage and the scooter at the Sarasota airport.

Got a picture of this guy after the service. Then I saw him and another guy getting into a car in the parking lot. Can I ask what the outfit is for? He was getting out of it and joked about being in his undershirt. I'm the Lord Lyon.

Went to the cathedral for the 11am service to hear the organ. Turned out this is Battle of Britain Day. Full of bigwigs and people in uniform. The usher took us to the only spot with room for the scooter - at the front between ranks of cadets.

Our rooms in Salisbury at the Merchant's House and in London at the Tavistock Hotel were tiny and quaint. Our room at the CitizenM in Glasgow is huge and ultra modern. Everything is controlled by this iPad, even the window shades.

First thing we encountered on exiting the train station was the taxi queue. Path of least resistance. London cabs are huge cars. Most have a wheelchair ramp. So Ann drove her scooter right into the cab. Had a very nice Chinese driver named Wing.

Needed to get from Waterloo in south London to our hotel in North London. Underground doesn't do scooters. Heard a lot of bad things about London cabs and crabby drivers. So we were planning on Uber or a bus.

When we arrived at Heathrow we took an Uber to Woking to get the train to Salisbury. The elevators were out of order at the Woking station so we couldn't get the scooter to the right platform for the Salisbury train. They diverted the train to a different track so we could board it!

Our hotel is in a building from the 1500s. Our room displays some of the original worm eaten beams. I assume decorative only at this point.

The Doom Painting in St Thomas Becket church. The church is believed to be older than the cathedral (1258) . The painting was made in 1470, whitewashed over during the Reformation. It was discovered in the late 1800s, been under repainting and restoration ever since.

The Germans also marked many of the wealthy estates for preservation. When they conquered England they planned to take their art work back to Germany.

During WW II Salisbury was never bombed because the Luftwaffe used the cathedral as a landmark. "When you see the cathedral, turn right for London." As a result, Salisbury has retained more of its ancient character than other English cities that had to be rebuilt.

Saw a good production of Little Women last night at the Salisbury Playhouse.
